WORDS AND PHOTOGRAPHY: BEATRIX TORMA
The southern connecting wing of the Buda Castle links the old Baroque palace from the era of Maria Theresa with the modern extension designed by Ybl and Hauszmann. As a result of the reconstruction carried out under the National Hauszmann Program, the southern connecting wing once again shines in its original, turn-of-the-century splendour.
BUDA CASTLE
TERRAZZO FLOORING
The extensive renovation restored the historical St. Stephens Hall, destroyed by a bomb hit during the Second World War and considered an outstanding masterpiece of Hungarian applied art, to its original state. The foyer and corridors of the building have also been reconstructed. The final appearance of the terrazzo flooring, manufactured on-site by Iamart, was determined with the involvement of the architectural designer, the heritage expert and the investor.
